Spoiled Democratic Legislator Loses Her Mind When Stopped by Police Officer
There's something uniquely satisfying yet horrific about the nature of Democratic entitlement. As we've previously covered, the common refrain is "Do as I say, not as I do," but there's another element to the progressive mindset — an undying commitment to the "poor me" mentality.
Police dashcam footage has been released of a traffic stop that took place earlier this year. It demonstrates several truths leftists ignore, specifically regarding their contempt for police and pure, unbridled sense of entitlement:
The footage, taken in Ulster County, NY, highlights key moments of a traffic stop that originally lasted over thirty minutes. It shows a woman being stopped by Officer Gary Short for a speeding violation, although upon contact, she admits to talking on her cellphone while driving.
Over the course of the video, Officer Short demonstrates saint-like levels of patience as the woman tearfully tries every trick in the book, including:
- Faking a panic attack (hyperventilation and all) and claiming PTSD
- Claiming to be completely broke (while sitting in a Prius with a roof rack and clutching a smartphone)
- Threatening to record the conversation (which was already being recorded)
- Claiming she was forced to speed by other cars
- Claiming the officer said he singled her out
- Claiming that she "doesn't feel safe anymore" (after the previous excuses failed)
- Claiming she works "24 hours a day" to support her family (dubious at best)
Hilariously, all of the woman's attempts to weasel out of a citation ultimately backfires. Officer Short explains that he initially intended to cut her a break, but decided instead to cite her for speed (in all likelihood thanks to her rude behavior).
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the woman was later identified as Jennifer Schwartz Berky,
an elected County Legislator for Ulster County.
Berky's official county profile lists her party affiliations as "Democrat, Green, Working Families." A news article from the beginning of this year detailed her participation in the New York Women's march, carrying a sign with a quote from former President Obama. Despite her claims of poverty, Berky owns a consulting business and somehow managed to retain multiple lawyers in an attempt to have the footage of the traffic stop suppressed.
From Hudson Valley One:
This is what you can expect when you have Democrats representing you. Immature, whiny child-like behavior, concerned with nothing but their own gain. The irony here is that even though Berky's lawyers claim that releasing the footage could influence her status as a County Legislator, Berky tried to use her position to influence the police officer.
