ICE Denounces California's Sanctuary State Law, Vows to Fight Back

California Governor Jerry Brown knows which side of the bread his butter's on. Everyone else can go kick rocks, apparently.

Thanks to a voting system highly susceptible to fraudulent ballot-stuffing and policies that have allowed over 800,000 illegal immigrants to get drivers' licenses, competition for the upcoming 2018 gubernatorial race seems almost comical at this point.

Data from a Pew Research study shows that illegal immigrants overwhelmingly vote Democrat. Why shouldn't they? After all, it's the party that grants them criminal leniency, increased handouts and for now, safe haven.

On Thursday, Governor Brown signed legislation that declared California a sanctuary state. The policies that would go into effect prohibit local and state law enforcement from assisting or participating in federal efforts to weed out the two-million-and-growing aliens living illegally in the state.

From NBC Los Angeles:

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed sanctuary state legislation Thursday that extends protections for immigrants living in the United States illegally — a move that gives the nation’s most populous state another tool to fight President Donald Trump.

Brown’s signature means that police will be barred from asking people about their immigration status or participating in federal immigration enforcement activities starting Jan. 1. Jail officials only will be allowed to transfer inmates to federal immigration authorities if they have been convicted of certain crimes.

”These are uncertain times for undocumented Californians and their families, and this bill strikes a balance that will protect public safety, while bringing a measure of comfort to those families who are now living in fear every day,” Brown said in statement.

Governor Brown's message is clear: Vote Democrat. More importantly, vote for him or you will be held accountable.

Fortunately, the left has yet to completely remove the rule of law in the United States. Officials from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency were less than pleased with Governor Brown's decision. In a statement released by Acting ICE Director Tom Homan, he blasts the legislation, calling the governor "simply wrong" and vowing to fight back:

ICE will have no choice but to conduct at-large arrests in local neighborhoods and at worksites, which will inevitably result in additional collateral arrests, instead of focusing on arrests at jails and prisons where transfers are safer for ICE officers and the community. ICE will also likely have to detain individuals arrested in California in detention facilities outside of the state, far from any family they may have in California.

The Daily Caller explains the concept of collateral arrests:

“Collateral arrests” refer to apprehensions of illegal aliens who happen to be in the company of an illegal alien when they are targeted by ICE for arrest. Critics have decried these arrests because they often pick up non-violent persons illegally in the country that have committed no further major crimes.

Governor Brown is waging a war against the innocent people of California, leading through a campaign of fear. Undoubtedly as ICE nets increasingly large swathes of illegal immigrants in an effort to protect California's legal residents, the optics will be used to further an anti-police narrative with one directive in mind: "Vote for me or you're next."
