Victory? Leftist Anti-Life Professor Ordered to Pay $17k, Undergo Mandatory Training
For someone with a PhD, Dr. Gregory Thatcher isn't very smart.
Earlier this year at the California State University in Fresno, pro-life members of the Students for Life organization were spreading their message throughout the campus with chalk messages written on the ground in prominent areas. Some of the messages included "Support pregnant and parenting students," "Women need love, not abortion," and "You can be pregnant and successful!"
Apparently, the messages were so inflammatory someone had to take action. Cellphone footage shows us what happened next:
The video, taken by chapter president Bernadette Tasy, shows us another group of students rubbing out the pro-life messages with their feet. When asked, they inform Tasy that their professor put them up to it.
Tasy confronts Thatcher and informs him that the group has received permission for their activities. Thatcher rudely dismisses her and condescendingly declares that "College campuses are not free speech areas."
After six months of court hearings, the pro-life students have prevailed. The lawsuit filed by the ADF was settled by the District Court yesterday, with Thatcher ordered to pay $17,000 and undergo mandatory First Amendment training provided by the ADF.
Unfortunately, the victory is bittersweet, not just because Thatcher gets to keep his faculty position at CSU Fresno's Department of Public Health (likely thanks to an equally leftist school administration).
From Fox News:
Disgusting. Remorseless. Unrepentant. These are the people educating our students. The left is truly irredeemable.
