Free Speech Wins! UC Berkeley Reverses Decision to Block Ben Shapiro Event

It's always a good feeling when the underdog wins.

Days after UC Berkeley originally blocked political commentator Ben Shapiro from speaking at a campus event, the administration has reversed its decision. Townhall reports:

Following another outcry from conservatives, who again highlighted the university’s outrageous hostility to free speech, UC Berkeley officials now say they’re committed to accommodating an event featuring Ben Shapiro.

This civil rights victory is likely the result of pressure from threats of legal action from the Young American's Foundation, the Berkeley College Republicans and of course, Shapiro himself.

Despite the win, all eyes will be on UC Berkeley and the administration come September 14. If previous conservative speaking events are any indication, there will certainly be unrest from the left.

However, UC Berkeley seems to be taking a new stance in its course of action and promised that not only would Shapiro speak, the state-funded school would also pay for the event if necessary. Hopefully this will also include plenty of police and security personnel lined up for the potential turn-out of crazed Anti-fa rioters.

Across the twitter-sphere, sentiments are already strong:

To all conservatives planning on attending Ben Shapiro's event on September 14, we wish you well and hope you enjoy a quiet, uneventful evening.

Stay alert. Stay alive.
