"Doctor Who" Casts First Female Lead and the Left Goes Nuts

To the left, things like science and biological gender are routinely ignored when they don't fit the desired narrative. In this case, the leftist producers of the BBC have decided to cast the first-ever female for the role of the Doctor in the hit series "Doctor Who."

For those of you unfamiliar with the show's premise, it centers around a god-like figure known simply as "the Doctor." The last surviving member of an ancient alien race known as Time Lords, the Doctor is portrayed as nearly immortal, with the ability to regenerate himself as a new person when he nears death. The new star of the show will be self-proclaimed feminist Jodie Whittaker.

Since 1963, the Doctor has regenerated himself countless times over the course of the series. Of course, in the real world, regeneration was designed as a plot device to allow new actors to continue to fill the starring role. Historically, the Doctor has always been portrayed by a male actor, not because of sexism as feminists would cry, but because the character has been male from day one.

With all the furor over transgender issues and the faulty logic that inherently comes with ignoring scientific evidence in favor of encouraging mental illness, pandering to the left always causes more issues than it solves. There is no end to the list of grievances leftists will bring, because their principles are founded on imagined problems that cannot be solved. In this instance, the BBC wants to normalize the notion that men can become women and vice versa. And it's still not enough.

Case in point, the Daily Caller reports:

Feminist critic Anita Sarkeesian, who harassed her critics during a recent panel at VidCon, took issue with the Doctor’s newest regeneration. Writing on the official Feminist Frequency account on Twitter, Sarkeesian condemned Doctor Who for being an “overwhelmingly white show” that simply isn’t doing enough to fix the issue of minority representation in the media–as if it is the show’s duty to address social problems.

“It needs to be said that [Doctor Who] is still an OVERWHELMINGLY white show and that issues of representation do not exist in isolation from each other,” she began. “It’s not as if you fix the ‘woman’ problem, THEN fix the ‘race’ problem, THEN the ‘queer/trans’ problem, etc. It all has to happen in tandem.”

Sarkeesian strongly implied that the new Doctor must be intersectional–a transgender woman of color.

Entertainment can no longer just be entertaining; shows must prioritize identity politics above all else, even at the cost of entertainment value.

Thanks to all the pandering in the show, Doctor Who's viewership has declined by over 50% since its peak in 2010. As to why, the National Review hits the nail on the head:

The producers have made it so that liking (or not) the new Doctor can no longer be merely a matter of individual preference. It is, rather, an obligation, a duty, an expression of one’s social and ideological attitudes. Embracing her is a sign you’re a good citizen and human being. To oppose her is to oppose progress and the emancipation of women. The BBC needn’t worry. Its viewers would never do anything so vulgar. They’re too busy basking in the good feelings to wonder why a TV show that is a half century old suddenly must transform itself into a vehicle for proselytizing feminism or why one person’s art should be conscripted into another person’s cause.
— Varad Mehta, reporting for the National Review

Let this serve as a clear reminder that the left does not value freedom of thought. In an ideal world for leftists, everybody looks different, but thinks exactly the same way. A world without disagreement and diversity of opinion is a world without progress.

Stay alert. Stay alive.
