Here We Go Again: Richard Dawkins Blocked from Event at UC Berkeley (Because Muslims Might Get Offended)
It's always amusing when the left eats one of its own.
An upcoming UC Berkeley speaking engagement featuring liberal/atheist speaker Richard Dawkins has been cancelled amidst fears that his views on Islam might hurt a Muslim's feelings. We're not kidding.
This comes less than a week after UC Berkeley attempted to block political commentator Ben Shapiro from speaking at an event on September 14. Administrators rescinded their actions only after receiving threats of legal action from Shapiro and conservative student organizations.
From CBN News:
Here is what UC Berkeley considers abusive:
It's been suggested that, if Muhammad were alive today, he would be a member of ISIS. Interesting to hear Islamic scholars' take on this.— Richard Dawkins (@RichardDawkins) April 1, 2015
This is leftist hypocrisy at its finest— you have the right to free speech, as long as they like what you say. Anything else is "abusive speech." Take, for instance, this quote from Colombian socialist Camilo Restrepo:
Although many of Richard Dawkins' philosophical views are heavy-handed, the solution to unpopular speech is always more speech. Only through civil discourse can progress be made and better ideas developed.
Things aren't looking good for UC Berkeley.
Stay alert. Stay alive.
