Illegal Immigrant Facing Deportation Wants to Yell at Trump: "I am not a criminal"
Lourdes Salazar Bautista is a mother of three and, in her words, "not a criminal," "a good person" and "a working person."
Unfortunately, Baustista is only correct on one out of three points.
Although Bautista may indeed be a good person, her status as an illegal immigrant (and therefore a criminal in every legal sense of the word) makes it impossible for her to legally work anywhere in the U.S. She first entered the country in illegally 1997 and has been defying removal orders from ICE since 1998.
Undocumented residents like Bautista are championed by the left as innocent people that have earned, nay, deserve the right to enter and live in America. They refer to them as simply "immigrants" in their coverage to make it seem like they are being improperly removed for no reason, conveniently ignoring the fact that their very presence is against the law.
Illegal immigration costs Americans $113 billion a year. It is sheer arrogance when illegal aliens like Bautista speak as if they are entitled to all the benefits of American citizenship when she herself couldn't be bothered to respect our laws and enter legally. Citizenship is a privilege, not a right. Bautista shows clear disrespect for our justice system by missing her court date in 1998 and ignoring additional orders from ICE to comply.
The ThinkProgress piece has more:
Bautista has merely been delaying the inevitable for over 20 years. You don't get to disobey lawful orders from government officials just because it's inconvenient to you.
Everything Bautista is about to lose— friends, family, children— she will lose because of decisions she made. She chose to enter illegally, she chose to ignore ICE and now she needs to accept personal responsibility for her choices.
The leftist media demonizes President Trump's immigration policy for doing what it's supposed to do— remove those that are here illegally and encourage legal entry into our great nation. They forget one simple fact— if you enter illegally, everything you do afterward, good or bad, is also illegal.
Stay alert. Stay alive.
