Five Convicted Teens Released in Nevada Following Law Change. Here's Why It's a Slippery Slope.
Since Nevada lawmakers banned life without parole for minors, five teens convicted of homicide have gone free, with dozens more poised to make a case for early release.
As a steady stream of leftists continue fleeing Democratic states like California and Oregon (rendered largely uninhabitable thanks to policies like Prop 47 and 57) to more conservative states like Texas and Nevada, it's unclear if they've actually learned their lesson or not.
Criminologists have demonstrated repeatedly that deterrence is the heart of effective crime control. Punishment must be certain, swift and severe or citizens will not fear the results of criminal actions.
Although the measures described in the article don't exactly cripple law enforcement efforts, it's certainly a step in that direction. As time goes on and more leftists move to Republican states, will they continue voting for policies that turn the tide in favor of criminals?
Remember, leftist policies disarm the law-abiding and reward the non-law-abiding. Their policies don't work and for good reason: the more problems they create, the more positions and money will be made available for corrupt Democrats to grab.
