51% of Americans No Longer Support Capitalism (While Continuing to Enjoy the Benefits)

According to our site analytics, the majority of people here will use an iOS or Android device to read this article. Congratulations, you're reaping the benefits of capitalism.

As Ben Shapiro and other noted conservatives have explained repeatedly, capitalism is, in essence, forced altruism. Without a voluntary exchange of goods or services, the transaction does not take place, creating a system in which competition drives up value and pushes down prices.

Capitalism is the heart of innovation and progress. It's why your iPhone doesn't cost $2,000 and why food is plentiful and affordable in America.

Of course, capitalism's benefits are merely an obstacle to the left in their quest to convince young Americans that prosperity is only possible through oppression. Unfortunately, it seems to be working.

From the Guardian:

Back in February, a college sophomore called Trevor Hill stood up during a televised town hall meeting in New York and put a simple question to the House minority leader, Nancy Pelosi.

Citing a study by Harvard University that showed that 51% of Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 no longer support capitalism, Hill asked if the Democratic party would contemplate moving farther left and offering something distinctly different to dominant rightwing economics? Pelosi, visibly taken aback, said: “I thank you for your question,” she said, “but I’m sorry to say we’re capitalists, and that’s just the way it is.”

The footage went viral on both sides of the Atlantic. It was powerful because of the clear contrast: Trevor Hill is no hardened leftwinger. He’s just your average millennial – bright, well-informed, curious about the world and eager to imagine a better one. By contrast, Pelosi, a figurehead of establishment politics, seemed unable to even engage with the notion that capitalism itself might be the problem.

Pelosi is either wrong or lying— Democrats do not want capitalism because it involves less government regulation and less power for them.

Young people are being taught that from birth, they are cursed by an invisible hand that dooms to live in a world of racism, bigotry and corruption. They are told they deserve goods and services like healthcare and education. If something is deserved, it must be given, not earned. So naturally they'll gravitate toward a larger, Democrat-controlled government that will presumably provide them with what's "rightfully" theirs.

If this keeps up, America will become no better than Venezuela. But at least we can take solace in the fact that our collapse will come democratically.

Stay alert. Stay alive.
