LOL: Leftist Hollywood Actor Don Cheadle Thinks Eagle Lapel Pin = Nazis
In early 2017, internet pranksters on 4chan derived great pleasure from trolling the left by pretending common symbols represented white-supremacy and other hateful ideologies. Success was achieved by causing leftists to fall for the gimmick by denouncing the perfectly ordinary symbol as representative of hateful ideals. It certainly didn't take much.
By playing to the left's desperation to see hate and racism everywhere, symbols like the "OK" hand symbol became "White Power" signs:
Milk became a "symbol of white racial purity":
Even the classic "peace" sign became an anti-transgender gesture:
The trolling had such an impact that the campaign took on a life of its own, with overly-sensitive snowflakes unintentionally trolling themselves.
Hollywood actor Don Cheadle, known for his work in films like Hotel Rwanda and The Avengers, tweeted this on Friday:
There Cheadle was, minding his own business and watching CNN when he saw an eagle brooch and presumably thought to himself "What the actual f*ck?!? NEO-NAZI SYMBOL," completely forgetting that besides America, countries like Albania, Austria, Egypt, France, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Russia, and ancient Rome have all used eagles in their own heraldry.
In reality, the pin worn by the CNN reporter represents The Eagle Forum, an American conservative pro-family organization. Their logo was designed by founder Phyllis Schlafly in 1972:
Still, fans of Don Cheadle, Hate Detective (working title), praised him for his paranoia. “Vigilance is an asset in this era even if it produces some uneasy interactions,” wrote one of his followers. Even when utterly incorrect, the left is incapable of admitting fault. No, there's always some invisible evil to fight; if they're not correct now, they will be eventually (or so they'd like to think).
Stick to acting, Donny. That way, if you look stupid you can just blame it on a bad script.
Stay alert. Stay alive.
