President Trump Reverses Obama's Ban on Military Equipment for Law Enforcement
Earlier today, the Trump administration announced that it would be taking steps to restore programs that divert surplus military equipment to police departments, repealing an Obama-era ban.
The new plan takes effect immediately and would undo Obama's 2015 executive order to block police departments from obtaining and using armored vehicles, large-caliber weapons, ammunition and other heavy equipment.
