College Feminists Demand Cash Payments from Students Simply Because They're Feminists

There used to be a time when the purpose of school was to become a contributing member of society. High school taught real-world vocational skills, college was optional, and attaining a higher education would increase your value in the workforce (and presumably your pay).

Those times have long since passed thanks to the left and an ever-growing bureaucracy. Ever since the late 1970's, the quality of college education has steadily declined while tuition has skyrocketed, fueled by government subsidies and exacerbated by uncontrolled spending.

College is now a place where young adults go to learn their position in the victim hierarchy, a place where even the most unemployable socialists can collect a fat paycheck. Across the educational spectrum, actual real-world values and skills have taken a back seat to leftist indoctrination.

In the latest display of such insanity, self-proclaimed feminists are now demanding cash payments from students at the Sarah Lawrence College in New York. The reason for the gimme? So-called "emotional labor." That's right, not only do these students believe themselves to be victims of a shadowy sexist agenda, they believe it is actual work to feel victimized and therefore deserving of payment.

The College Fix has more:

Students at Sarah Lawrence College, a posh, private liberal arts college in New York consistently ranked one of the most expensive colleges in the nation, recently called on peers and others to pay female campus activists for their “emotional labor.”

A Facebook post that went viral among the campus community listed 17 Venmo accounts belonging to Sarah Lawrence College students, most of whom were students of color.

It was posted once on March 26 on Facebook in honor of Women’s History Month, then reposted in April as students exchanged heated words on Facebook over a campus controversy.

“In honor of Women’s History Month, and the labor that women and femmes of color do for Sarah Lawrence every month of the year,” the post states, then lists the student Venmo accounts. Venmo is a payment service app. The post, which includes a brightly colored poster declaring “Give your $ to Women & Femmes of Color,” was inspired by the #GiveYourMoneyToWomen hashtag created by prominent feminists.

The hypocrisy becomes clear when you realize that feminism, which once stood for equality between men and women, now calls for discrimination in favor of women. In other words, if you don't pony up your cash tribute for feminism, you are the sexist.

At Sarah Lawrence College, one of the most expensive institutions in the country, education consists of kowtowing to those higher on the victim hierarchy totem pole. We shudder to think what other colleges are doing to young minds.

Stay alert. Stay alive.
