California Police Chief Supports Policy Allowing Illegal Immigrants to Ravage Los Angeles Communities
One step forward, two steps back. After a recent demonstration of what proper law enforcement looks like when unencumbered by leftist restrictions, we now get to see what it looks like when even top law enforcement officials succumb to the game of political correctness.
Late last week, we brought you the story of California's political leaders diverting $30 million in tax-payer funds to shield illegal immigrants from deportation thanks to President Trump's repeal of the DACA program. The leftist initiative would exacerbate California's $1.3 trillion debt and increase the amount of money wasted on supporting foreign aliens, who already consume nearly 18% of the state's budget annually.
Thanks to policies like Prop 47 and 57, California's law enforcement agencies are struggling to deal with an emboldened criminal population. Police chiefs from all over the state spoke out against these and other policies that reward violent law breaking thugs, who are often released from jail before an officer's report is even completed.
In Los Angeles, Chief of Police Charlie Beck is turning his back on his officers and local residents to support SB 54, the "California Values Act," which ironically demonstrates the leftist state's lack thereof.
From the LA Times:
SB 54 not only does nothing to relieve the state of the growing crime epidemic, it actually adds to it. Violent incidents are hardly outliers; rather they are the direct result of politically-endorsed criminal organizations recruiting directly from the illegal immigrant population. For instance:
- In Los Angeles, 95 percent of all outstanding warrants for homicide (which total 1,200 to 1,500) target illegal aliens. Up to two-thirds of all fugitive felony warrants (17,000) are for illegal aliens.
- A confidential California Department of Justice study reported in 1995 that 60 percent of the 20,000-strong 18th Street Gang in southern California is illegal; police officers say the proportion is actually much greater. The bloody gang collaborates with the Mexican Mafia, the dominant force in California prisons, on complex drug-distribution schemes, extortion, and drive-by assassinations, and commits an assault or robbery every day in L.A. County. The gang has grown dramatically over the last two decades by recruiting recently arrived youngsters, most of them illegal, from Central America and Mexico.
- The leadership of the Columbia Lil’ Cycos gang, which uses murder and racketeering to control the drug market around L.A.’s MacArthur Park, was about 60 percent illegal in 2002, says former assistant U.S. attorney Luis Li. Francisco Martinez, a Mexican Mafia member and an illegal alien, controlled the gang from prison, while serving time for felonious reentry following deportation.
Although Chief Beck talks about 'community partnerships' and 'constitutional policing,' he misses one important point — illegal immigrants are not community members and their continued violence indicates a disdain for our Constitution.
Chief Beck is not alone in his betrayal of law and order. It didn't take long for Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell to jump on the illegal immigration bandwagon:
We've said it before and we'll say it again — it is impossible to please the left save for total and complete political domination. Case in point, Pablo Alvarado, the executive director of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, said SB 54 achieved only “incremental” progress, and insists that Chief Beck and Sheriff McDonnell's endorsements aren't nearly enough.
Yes, by all means, let's choose criminals over relieving the crushing state debt. That sounds like a well-reasoned decision.
Stay alert. Stay alive.
