Cop-Killer Dies After Shooting Three Police Officers. Here's the Aftermath.

On Wednesday, we brought you the story of an auto-theft investigation gone wrong, resulting in a wild shoot-out between police and criminal scum determined to escape the law.

The suspect responsible for shooting three police officers, killing one, has been identified as 32-year-old career-criminal Thomas Daniel Littlecloud.

From NBC Bay Area:

Northern California authorities say a Castro Valley man suspected of killing one law officer and wounding two others has died of his own gunshot wounds.

The Sacramento County coroner’s office said Saturday that 32-year-old Thomas Daniel Littlecloud had died after being shot three days earlier.

Authorities say Littlecloud shot through the door of a Sacramento hotel room, wounding two California Highway Patrol officers who were there as part of an investigation into stolen cars. The two officers have survived with gunshot wounds.

Authorities say the man then fatally shot Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert French and escaped over a hotel-room balcony. Authorities say they detained the man after a car chase and another exchange of gunfire.

The police officer killed by Littlecloud was identified as Sacramento Deputy Robert "Bob" French, 52, a law enforcement veteran with 21 years of service. Deputy French's death signifies the utter break-down of the justice system in California.

By all accounts, Littlecloud should not have been on the street. He has a long and violent criminal history and has been imprisoned on multiple occasions for assault with a semi-automatic weapon, grand theft and evading a police officer. His girlfriend, 23-year-old Priscilla Prendez, has been a self-admitted prostitute since she was just 16 years old.

Littlecloud's criminal behavior was utterly selfish. He had a little boy that needed him. He had every chance to turn his life around and chose not to.

In 2015, Littlecloud was arrested on identity theft, drugs and weapons charges. Although court documents showed a plea bargain had been arranged, Littlecloud went on the run before it became finalized. Friends and family sent messages out online, pleading for him to come to his senses:

Thanks to Littlecloud's selfishness, a little boy will grow up without a father and his family will lose their home. California's strict gun-control laws didn't stop him from using a high-powered rifle to kill a police officer, nor did the lenient criminal justice policies stop him from a life of criminal behavior. How many more lives will be destroyed before policymakers wake up?

Stay alert. Stay alive.
