Democrats or Republicans — Which is the Party of Tolerance?

Democrats or Republicans — Which is the Party of Tolerance?

When it comes to politics, the U.S. is primarily divided along two major groups: Republicans and Democrats. Both claim that they are the party of tolerance. Which one is telling the truth?

Surprisingly, we got the answer yesterday via a new report from ABC News, called "Growing up Democrat in red state Texas, Republican in blue state California." It explores the differences between Democratic and Republican response to political opposition, and the results are quite telling:

Only the left would advocate the punching of an eight-year-old girl for supporting President Trump. Only the left would threaten the families living in Los Angeles that dare to vote for a Republican candidate.

Meanwhile in Texas, where Democrats would have you believe is infested with gun-toting redneck racist bigots, Democrats openly preach their values without fear of repercussion. In one particularly egregious example, a liberal Democratic mother-of-four celebrates a genocidal organization with a homemade wreath:

The person that made this has four children. The irony is real.

The person that made this has four children. The irony is real.

What's even more telling is the numbers when you run them through Google. A search for "Trump sign vandalized" yields 1.17 million hits, while a search for "Hillary sign vandalized" yields less than 450,000.

Even Dwight, an 11-year-old student whose parents raised him Republican, can spot the hypocrisy:

Elizabeth’s 11-year-old son Dwight said, “I wore a Trump shirt to school, and everyone got all mad at me.”

When President Barack Obama was elected, Dwight said, “We didn’t go out on the street and protest, and break things down and burn things, we kept quiet for eight years so why can’t the Democrats just let us have our fun.”

“Nightline” first met Dwight and his mother at PolitiCon earlier this summer, a convention in Los Angeles. “We went because Dwight wanted to go,” Elizabeth said.

Dwight said he voted for Trump in his school’s mock election and he said when he told his friends who he voted for, he was called “a disgrace.”

“And I was like, ‘Well I should have my own political beliefs,’” he said. “And I don’t harass you for liking Obama.”

The next time you hear a Democrat slam Republicans as the party of violence, ask yourself this: Which party teaches their children to punch others over political dissent?

Stay alert. Stay alive.
